Sig & Maya: Finding the Next Generation

SIG SAYS: “Good people used to come looking for us.”

MAYA SAYS: “Have you considered whether they even know why they should work for you?”

The Conversation:
The workforce has changed, and recruiting has to change with it. Competitive wages and benefits remain a major advantage, but the next generation also wants to understand the opportunity: career growth, training, technology, stability, and where the job can take them.
Experience built great contractor businesses. Today, telling that story may be just as important as providing the opportunity.

The takeaway:
Don’t just recruit workers. Show them a career.
I think this is particularly good because neither Sig nor Maya is wrong. Sig represents the reality that reputation, wages, benefits and opportunity historically attracted people. Maya challenges contractors to consider whether today’s prospective employee even knows that opportunity exists.
