General contractors, government entities, and other project owners are increasingly requiring the submission of Waste Management and/or Spill Prevention Plans in construction submittals due to sustainability standards like LEED and evolving regulations. If your project requires one or both of these programs, FCA has you covered.
FCA provides a standalone Waste Management Program and the FCA Safety Manual includes a Spill Prevention Program. These programs are federally compliant and are available to signatory contractors as part of their FCA membership. Federal Resources
United States:
- EPA Construction & Demolition Debris Management: Offers guidelines for managing construction and demolition waste, including recycling and hazardous material handling.
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA): Governs the proper disposal and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES): Regulates stormwater discharges and includes waste and spill prevention protocols.
Canada:
- Pollution and Waste Management – Government of Canada: Offers guidelines on managing pollution and waste, including federal resources for reducing, recycling, and disposing of waste.
- Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA): Focuses on hazardous waste management and pollution prevention to ensure environmental protection at construction sites.
