When a union representative arrives on your jobsite, do you know what your CBA requires, and where the representative’s authority ends?
Jobsite access rights can vary significantly by collective bargaining agreement and may also be affected by owner or general contractor requirements, safety and security rules, and the purpose of the visit. While a CBA may provide a union representative the right to access represented employees, that right does not necessarily mean unrestricted access or authority to interfere with the work.
