Language developed by FCA International and the IUPAT to provide our industry’s accredited apprenticeship programs access to a federal grant funding currently available to secondary and postsecondary schools has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

FCA and the IUPAT worked closely with Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) to include our recommended language in H.R. 4502 – the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act, 2022.

With this language, our industry’s training centers with accredited apprenticeship programs will be eligible for “Perkins Grant funding,” which is available to secondary and postsecondary schools to support career and technical educational programs. This funding can be used on curriculum development, staffing, supplies, administrative costs, etc.

FCA International would like to thank Rep. Pocan for his efforts on ensuring this language was included in the bill. Stay tuned as this legislation now makes its way through the Senate.
