With an average suicide rate about four times greater than the general population, the construction industry is impacted by suicide far more than we’d like to admit. For our industry to change, we must eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health in construction; we can help by talking about the issue and providing resources.
Mental Health Awareness month is a great time for signatory contractors to review the 10 steps for implementation of the IUPAT Helping Hand program checklist and discuss with their labor partners ways to implement the program in their local area.
